Running Shop

We have just collected a canoe from the Derby store that we reserved online. When the item was presented to us at the till it was showing a price of £309.00. The reserved price online is £330. The box was very old and tatty, it had obviously been opened before and in stock for a long time. We were charged £330, so I asked to speak to the Manager. A guy called Arron arrived and told us that the price on the box was a very old price and he wasn't prepared to sell it to us for that. He offered us a display /opened canoe which we didn't want for obvious reasons as they are inflatable and it could of been damaged. We are extremely disappointed with the product and the service, but we have driven a fair way to collect it and want to use the canoe over the next few days. We have had great service in the past from Go Outdoors, this has really disappointed us. Our advise to others looking to reserve and travel for expensive items. Don't!Update: We were in our local Go Outdoors in Preston looking for shorts and mentioned our problem to the Manager Scott and his Assistant Manager Ashleigh. The difference in attitude and willingness to help was astonishing. He was appalled at what had happened offered to refund the difference there and then. We are very happy with Go Outdoors, maybe avoid Derby when Arron is working.

Went in to return a faulty pair of shoes that had a hole inside the shoes sole (and I'd only bought them a month ago). I was basically accused of lying about how often I'd used them and made to feel like it was my fault the shoes were ruined. Had barely any use of them! They begrudgingly gave a credit note for them but were acting totally unacceptable. Was appalling customer service from the manager - do not visit this store!!!!!!

Great store. It's got everything to meet leisure and travel needs. Helpful and friendly staff. Good customer service.

Went yesterday for a gait analysis - Spoke to somebody working upstairs in Cotswold shop and was made to pay before even having the appointment, only to be told that my payment hadn’t gone through despite it showing up as paid on my banking app. The staff member was very rude, telling me I was wrong and after refusing to pay again, he eventually let me go down saying “that’s okay we’ll do it for free” (even though I had in fact paid). It made me feel so embarrassed, that I was given a free service as if I wasn’t willing to pay at all. So I go downstairs for my appointment where I questioned if the salesman could speak English - he kept gesturing to me to do things like sit down or run on the treadmill. After watching my running video back, he told me I had a neutral position when running and that was it. To think I paid £15 for that. He recommended three pairs of shoes, all of which were above £175. The whole thing felt like a money making scheme - didn’t ask me about what I wanted, how far I run, etc. Wouldn’t recommend this service to anyone, was a waste of time.

WILD WICKETS sport shop is fantastic. I Just did an online order, quick easy to use website with PayPal (love that!), Fay even delivered my order to Toy Planet for me to collect as they would be closed. They saved my bacon as this was a panic buy for my Daughters Ballet lessons today. Highly recommend! THANKS GUYS!

I bough a bike packing/ camping stove from my race kit on-line. Really easy website to navigate. Great communication from order confirmation to delivery. Stove arrived within 36 hours.Got a nice handwritten note along with my package, very nice touch.

Steer clear of here for your own good. The only thing this store has going for it are its low prices, but even those won't tempt me to shop there again. The staff here are incredibly rude and obnoxious and sadly the manager is the worst of the lot of them, actually encouraging his subordinates to be rude to customers. I was at the back of the store looking at shoes today when I heard him at the other end of the store firstly being rude to a customer with another member of staff and then, when the customer left, he said to his employee, loud enough for everyone in the shop to hear, don't worry

If I could give 6 stars I would. I went to the store to find trekking shoes after trying to buy online and being disappointed (with another retailer). I don’t remember the name of the guy that helped me but he spent a good hour with me making sure we find the best shoes for me. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and loves outdoors themselves. Couldn’t recommend a better place to buy outdoors gear from.

If you can live with the prices (everything in there is very nice and none of it is cheap) it is way nicer than shopping online where the staff are so knowledgeable. Tbf it's only expensive because they sell good stuff.When I was looking for a waterproof jacket the assistant took me all the way through the process of what I'd be wearing it for, what clothes I already have, how much I want to spend etc. before making their recommendation. Definitely a cut above the customer service I've had in other places, maybe it's a general hiking shop thing but I really got the impression these people can make recommendations based on their own experience. Will be back when I need something else!
