Criminality at the highest level of Scots government covering up child abuse and child killings giving false evidence onto death certificates. That is deeply concerning and clearly against the law.

If only all companies had the same incredible customer service ethos, no-one would have any complaints.I ordered a duplicate Birth Certificate for a deceased relative, and received it 24 hours later! In addition, I didn't understand the Credit system they have, and inadvertently bought some, thinking I had to pay for the Birth Certificate with them. Within an hour of emailing them to explain my error, they had refunded me in full.Absolutely first class service!(I am still waiting for a duplicate for someone else from the English authorities ... 4 weeks and counting.)

Always stop by for meaningful trip. Love the views of these buildings that are made to last forever. Great as the archive. Plenty of activities for visitors. Friendly, caring people of Scotland.

Whilst working as an Enumerator for the Scottish Census, I was fortunate to have Lucy Normile as my line manager.I'd like to endorse her excellent listening skills, flexibility, communication and proactive approach.Lucy isn't afraid to take action - in what has proved to be a difficult role. For instance, a situation arose with the client, who were overseeing the Census. This client was not fulfilling their responsibilities, with regards to payments and other technical issues. As a Field worker (Enumerator) I felt this was very incompetent - having gone on for 6 or 7 weeks, without pay!I informed Lucy, who wrote a very candid email to resolve the matter, stating the client's gross mis-management of the situation. She is a great example of a 1st class NRS line manager.5-stars.

Came here from England to look up family was told only needed fathers date of birth. Was shown how to log on put in dob for father wasn't shown where to go from there not being fully competent with computers, asked for help a couple of times still achieving no joy and no further on paid another £15, for wife to sit with me £30 in total gave up after 2 hours feel I've been ripped off. Thank goodness people during the rest of our visit were more accomodating

Visited here for the first time today - a beautiful building and an unexpected archivist’s garden. Cafe staff pleasant and helpful, as were the majority of staff. A great resource but be aware that if using for the first time, there are a number of rules and form filling to be undertaken, which is understandable. However, I was somewhat dismayed by the way I was spoken to by one member of staff who decided to publicly ‘cross examine ’ me about a conversation I had with another member of staff - it would appear that procedures regarding their special collections were interpreted differently by different members of staff ...A bit of empathy for new users wouldn’t go amiss - likewise I was asked for my readers ticket number which I hadn’t actually been given - a few kind words and explanation would better serve the public than a humiliating chastisement in front of other readers .......if you want excellent and friendly customer service I suggest you go to John Lewis around the corner, unfortunately however, they obviously don’t do archives ! Sadly having used a number of archive facilities around the UK this was by far the most negative experience I have witnessed.
